The fun and ugly side of manic depressive is a strange relationship that comes with the Bipolar Disorder. Those who are affected with a mild form of bipolar disorder may not feel the manic episodes in full affect and right away, but when the disorder is severe enough then many of those affected will experience a thorough amount of productivity and creativity — along with a crash and burn or severe depression. The bipolar disorder is a chemical imbalance that is often genetic, and it results in an individual who experiences very aggressive behavior at times.

There are “manic episodes” that give an individual a great deal of creativity and productivity. They will feel as if they have all of the ability necessary to complete projects that they have and achieve certain goals that they have been contemplating for a certain amount of time. They may go days without sleeping because they have a great deal of energy and focus to complete certain tasks. They may experience a high level of creativity that they were unaware of when they were not experiencing the manic episodes. This will then result in a “crash and burn” which is the ugly side of the manic depression. The crash end of it will result in a severe depression that may initiate very suicidal thoughts or aggressive behavior.

Those affected may act out in ways that are spontaneous and dangerous to those around them. They may hurt themselves in the process crashing and burning; luckily, there is a lot of medication that can be prescribed to help those who suffer from the bipolar disorder. Some of the medications may have severe side effects that have the ability to worsen other medical conditions that the individual is suffering from. Unfortunately, the medication will take the manic episodes and level of creativity away from the person. Scientists are trying to create a medication that will allow those affected to retain their manic episodes and “extreme abilities” while preventing the ugly side of the disorder.

Many famous people, philosophers and artists have been diagnosed with the bipolar disorder and have created amazing pieces of work throughout their manic episodes. The severe depression can be prevented if the individual is careful with the way that they take care of themselves and the way that they care for the chemicals in their brain. Eating a healthy diet and doing so consistently will maintain some of the mood neurotransmitters in the brain. If there is alcohol or substances inhibited into the body then it will only further the “ugly side” of the disorder and it will set the bodily function off in the body. Sleeping is very important when it comes to balancing mood neurotransmitters, and many of the bipolar disorder medication contain serotonin so that the individual will sleep well. When there is a consistent level of sleep then there will also be an intent level of focus, as well as a stabilization of moods.
